Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Kitchen & Bathroom Worktops

Q. What details do I need to provide to obtain a quotation?
A. A simple sketch of your worktops is required showing the measurements.  We would also need to know type of cooker, type of sink and which edges are exposed and require polishing.

Q. What is the lead-time from order?
A. All our worktops are cut by individual templates which we take in your home using plywood.  Those templates are them brought back to our workshop to make up the worktops.  From order date to template date we require 3 weeks notice (if you know when your kitchen units will be fitting in place, please reserve your template date with us in advance), then after templates taken, we will return within 7-10 days to fit the worktops.

Q. At what status does the kitchen need to be in for you to proceed with the templates?
A. In order for us to take accurate templates, the lower units need to be FIXED into position.  We are not able to take templates if units are still mobile.  Cookers should be positioned in place.  The sink and tap must be available for us to review for sizes and position.

Q. Can I see the slab of granite or marble before Seven Seas proceeds to cut?
A. Yes, if you would like to view the slab of material let us know at time of order and we will let you know the arrival date so that you may review before we cut

Q. Will the joins in the worktops be visible?
A.
Yes, however we use colour matching adhesives and always try to minimise the amount of joins.  Due to the limitations on the lengths of the granite and marble, maximum length in one run is limited to around 2.80 metres.  Some materials can be sourced up to 3.10 metres.

Q. Do you plumb in the sink and tap and connect the hobs?
A.
Our fitters are not qualified in plumbing or electrical work, you will understand these areas are specialist areas in their own right.

Q. Do you adhere the sinks to the worktops?
A. For all undermounted sinks (those that sit below the work surface) we attach the fixings and silicone the bowl into position ready for your plumber.  Butler and Belfast type sinks shoudl be positioned in place by your plumber/kitchen fitter.  For overmounted sinks, these should be fixed in place by your plumber/kitchen fitter.

Q. What are your payment terms?

A. All items are custom made to your individual kitchen.  Therefore full payment is required before the fitting date.  On placement of your order we will require a 50% deposit.  We will then issue you with a fixed templating date and a fixed fitting date, according to your convenience.
Cheque payment must be made 7 days before fitting date or on the template date passed to our fitter.
Credit Card payment may be made directly to our sales team at the office the day before fitting date.
Cash payments may be made directly to our sales team at the office the day before fitting date.

Q. How do I clean and care for my solid worktops?

A. If you click on the maintenance page on the website, you will find detailed information on every type of worktops surface we offer.
